Hello! I am Alicia Vaseo and I am a 21-year-old artist from the Gold Coast, Australia. Growing up, I fell in love with dancing before I had learnt to walk and was eager to enroll myself into every dance style I could and 21 years later I’m fortunate to have turned my passion into a career. At 15 years old I joined a full-time classical training program on the coast and focused on expanding my technical training. From there, I attended the Royal Conservatoire of The Hague in August 2020 for three years to gain a widened exposure to modern dance, which allowed me to connect or perhaps be reconnected to myself as an artist. Being part of the school’s Young Talent Project annually with Netherlands Dance Theater gave me multiple choreographic opportunities across the years. In my final year, I was grateful to join Off Projects for a week internship and to perform in Korzo’s ‘Meet the Next’ and opening foyer performance for ‘CaDance festival’. At the beginning of the following season, I joined Another Kind of Blue, in The Hague as an intern, touring the Netherlands, Germany, and Belgium. Also performing for the NDT AZC team has inspired me to continue teaching and I look extremely forward to bringing my contemporary knowledge to more students! This season is excitingly filled with performing and teaching opportunities that keep expanding my vocabulary and network of knowledge, and I can’t wait to bring some of this to Tribes!

Why I teach
I teach to enable others to unlock their creativity! Dance classes are a great way to bring your imagination to life and my biggest inspiration is being able to let my students find their own intuitive way of moving and bringing their ideas to their physicality with a smile on their face.
Super Secret Skill
I can swim in the ocean for hours if I get the chance. My sister used to call me a fish!
