Korzo Project & Auditions

We once started with &ONE. This will be codename: &FOUR.

A project for highly advanced/semi-prof dancers. There are 7 pieces and 5 choreographers to audition for. Every piece will have a making process like, any professional company, working closely with your choreographer and fellow dancers to learn, create and embody the dance piece. The pieces are 10 or 20 minutes. The training for each piece will be done during an intensive period or for a longer period of time, starting from January 2022.

We proudly present the fourth big production from Tribes at Korzo in The Hague, aiming to be on that stage in June!

Important info:

Date performance: Sunday June 5th or Monday June 6th
Short piece: 15 hours of training
Long piece: 30 hours of training
Costs: 175 euro (short piece), 275 (long piece)
*Training dates will be set in dialogue with the participants

Let’s bring back the old school styles in a refreshing dance piece.

We need some refreshment in these hard times and also believe that we can create the freedom for ourselves we want in life.

A piece with the focus of showing the inner child in all of us. The fun and curious being, that shines light and is playful.

Im looking for dancers with a strong rhythmic feel, able to groove and let yourself go, with a strong theatrical presence.

We go all the way, out of the box, be prepared.

We are at a turning point. The climate is changing at an enormous paste and we are not doing enough to turn the tide. What will happen when we wait too long? What is the core of our existence? How do you deal with dangers so big you can not even imagine?

About how we always need others to thrive, how a community can lift you up, about trusting others and helping other people forward.

A contemporary piece with lots of partnering and group work.

Liminal Space

The word liminal comes from the Latin word ‘limen’, meaning threshold – any point or place of entering or beginning. A liminal space is the time between the ‘what was’ and the ‘next.’ It is a place of transition, a season of waiting, and not knowing.

“Where we are betwixt and between the familiar and the completely unknown. There alone is our old world left behind, while we are not yet sure of the new existence. That’s a good space where genuine newness can begin. Get there often and stay as long as you can by whatever means possible…This is the sacred space where the old world is able to fall apart, and a bigger world is revealed. If we don’t encounter liminal space in our lives, we start idealizing normalcy.”

This piece is about being on the threshold, about being with the unknown, about taking risks and finding new pathways.

Becoming

The terrifying and at the same time beautiful process of becoming. It is a journey we are all part of, until we die. We keep on becoming, shaping and forming ourselves. This piece tells the story of becoming who you are and how we see our reflection of becoming mirrored in the people around us.

“…I would like to beg you dear Sir, as well as I can, to have patience with everything unresolved in your heart and to try to love the questions themselves as if they were locked rooms or books written in a very foreign language. Don’t search for the answers, which could not be given to you now, because you would not be able to live them. And the point is to live everything. Live the questions now. Perhaps then, someday far in the future, you will gradually, without even noticing it, live your way into the answer.”
