Yin Yoga is based on the Taoist concept of yin and yang, opposite and complementary principles in nature. Yin is the stable, unmoving, hidden aspect of things; yang is the changing, moving, revealing aspect.
Yin yoga can complement an already active life or help those who feel distracted by “mind chatter”. Yin is about discovering stillness and cooling the body. A Yin Yoga class consists of a series of long-held, passive floor poses and provides the opportunity to work deep into the muscle, ligaments and connective tissue.
